Description
Discover the Focke-Achgelis Fa330 Bachstelze Model Kit on P-Rex Hobby! This meticulously crafted model represents the single-seat, three-blade rotorcraft famously used as a ship-mounted reconnaissance aircraft by German U-boats during World War II. Weighing approximately 80kg and known for its ease of handling, the Fa330 was a marvel of engineering. It was assembled on the decks of submarines, and as the U-boat sailed upwind, the wind flow would rotate its rotors. Once airborne, it was tethered to the U-boat with a cable, allowing it to soar up to a maximum altitude of 120 meters. In clear weather conditions, it could visually cover a radius of about 40km, with crew members able to relay observation results back to the ship via wire. The Fa330 saw action on U-boats such as U-177, U-181, U-852, primarily for patrol duties in the Indian Ocean.
