[Originally developed as a seaplane carrier/high speed minelayer, the Nisshin underwent modifications to carry Type `A` midget submarines. Equipped with 3 14cm twin guns and a large Type 1-2 Model 11 catapult, this ship was primarily used as a fast transport. Launched on 27th February 1942, the Nisshin met its fate on 22 July 1943 in the Bougainville Strait when it was sunk by an American B-24.]
