Description
Discover the intricacies of World War II aviation with our highly detailed 1/72 scale plastic model kit of the "Yakovlev Yak-1b." This kit, as vividly depicted in the accompanying photos, offers enthusiasts a chance to build one of the most iconic fighter aircraft of the era. Inside the box, you'll find everything needed to assemble your very own Yak-1b model, including a plastic airplane model kit and the necessary decals to bring your creation to life.
The Yak-1b stands out for its continuous structural modifications and improvements throughout its service. Notably, in June 1940, modifications included lowering the rear part of the fuselage and adding a teardrop cockpit’s canopy for enhanced visibility and aerodynamics. Further enhancements such as a retractable tail wheel, a new WISz-105 propeller, and an oil cooler borrowed from the Jak-3 fighter were implemented. The aircraft's armament also saw significant changes, with two 7.62 mm SzKAS km being replaced by one 12.7mm UBS, while the 20 mm SzWAK gun remained a constant. By July 1942, the modernized fighter jet underwent state trials and was officially designated as the Yak-1b, correcting the historical misnomer of Yak-1M, which referred to a different aircraft, the Yak-3.
