Description
Experience the grandeur of naval history with our meticulously crafted full-hull model kit of the HMS Penelope. This model captures the essence of the Arethusa-class light cruiser of the Royal Navy as it stood in 1940, named after the iconic character from Homer’s Odyssey. The HMS Penelope played a significant role during the Second World War, initially participating in the Norwegian operation. Following an incident where the ship was stranded while in pursuit of a German merchant ship, it underwent emergency repairs at a base in a fjord. To camouflage from German air raids, it was painted in brown and white to blend with the surrounding landscape. After full repairs, the Penelope bravely participated in the campaign for Sicily. Tragically, while en route from Naples to Anzio in 1944, the Penelope was sunk by a torpedo attack from the German submarine U-410, marking a heavy loss of life.
- [Includes]: This model kit includes all parts necessary to build a full-hull replica of the HMS Penelope as she appeared in 1940.
- [Size]: The model is designed to scale, providing an accurate representation of the original ship.
- [Materials]: Crafted from high-quality materials, this kit ensures durability and a realistic appearance.
