Discover the iconic USS Alaska, the premier vessel of the U.S. Navy's Alaska-class battle cruisers. Engineered for excellence, this model boasts an impressive speed of 15 knots and a vast range of 12,000 nautical miles. Following her completion, the USS Alaska served valiantly alongside Mitchell's fleet of aircraft carriers, assuming the prestigious role of cruiser squadron flagship. She played a crucial role in safeguarding the aircraft carriers until Japan's surrender. Subsequently, the USS Alaska was integrated into the seventh fleet, before being honorably retired from active service on February 17, 1947. This majestic ship concluded her journey in 1961 when she was sold for scrap.
