Description
Discover the majestic USS Guam (CB-2), a proud member of the Alaska-class large cruisers, brought to you by Hobby Boss. This historical naval ship served the United States Navy with distinction towards the end of World War II. As the second and final vessel of its class, the USS Guam holds a special place in naval history. Named after the American territory in the Pacific, this ship embarked on crucial operations during its service. Despite being commissioned late into the war, the USS Guam played a significant role in the Okinawa operations from March to July 1945, providing vital anti-aircraft defense and engaging in shore bombardment. Furthermore, she was active in the East China and Yellow Seas, hunting for Japanese shipping in the closing stages of the war. Post-war, the USS Guam contributed to the occupation of Korea and facilitated the return of US Army troops to the United States. Decommissioned in February 1947 and eventually sold for scrapping in 1961, the USS Guam's legacy endures through this meticulously crafted model.
