Description
Discover the iconic Yak-28P, a dedicated long-range, missile-armed interceptor, brought to life by Hobby Boss. Born in 1960 and swiftly entering service by 1964, the Yak-28P was a formidable force against Western bombers or spy planes. Unlike its tactical bomber counterparts, this version boasted an increased fuel capacity due to the absence of an internal bomb bay and was equipped with an interception radar integrated into the nose cone, supporting its missile-only armament. With a production run of 435 aircraft, the Yak-28P showcased its prowess powered by 2 x Tumansky R-11 series after-burning turbojet engines. These engines delivered an impressive 10,140 lbs on dry thrust and 13,670 lbs with afterburner, propelling the aircraft to a maximum speed of 1,140 miles per hour, a range of 1,550 miles, and a service ceiling of 55,000 feet. Its armament typically included 2 x R-98M (AA-3 "Anab") medium-ranged and 2 x K-13A (AA-2 "Atoll") short-ranged air-to-air missiles, offering a mix of infrared homing and semi-active radar homing capabilities. Notably, no internal cannon was fitted to this model.
Upon completion, this meticulously designed kit will measure approximately 435.6mm in length and 243.6mm in width, featuring newly molded parts that capture the essence of this historic aircraft.
